Important Update on Coronavirus

March 16, 2020

Dear Storm the Stadium Supporters,

The health of all members of the Notre Dame community and our neighbors are of utmost importance as we respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  Therefore, Storm the Stadium 2020 is canceled. Though difficult, this decision is in the best interest of all involved in the event, and we appreciate your understanding at this time.

This is an annual event, and we look forward to hosting Storm the Stadium 2021 next spring. If you registered to volunteer, participate, or sponsor the event initially scheduled for April 25, 2020, we will defer your registration to be applied to next year’s event. Hopefully, this policy provides comfort to you, and, please know that we are grateful for your continued support of Notre Dame-enrolled veterans and their families, active-duty and ROTC students, and dependents of service members.

If you have any questions, please contact us at Again, thank you for your understanding and commitment to the mission of the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs

We hope to see you next year at Storm the Stadium 2021.

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, Notre Dame will host a family fun event in Notre Dame Stadium.

Whether you’re looking to embark on the ultimate stair-climbing challenge—from the tunnel to the top and every aisle in between—or enjoy a walk around the house that Rockne built, Storm the Stadium is for you.

And no matter which of the three courses you choose, the proceeds from your participation will benefit Notre Dame-enrolled military and veteran students, as well as their families.

So join Notre Dame’s Office of Military & Veterans Affairs April 25, 2020 to Storm the Stadium on behalf of our military men and women!

And to truly maximize your impact on our military-connected students, we have set up an easy way for you to fundraise by seeking pledges in support of your participation.

**Yes, you can form fundraising teams! An option to register a fundraising team is offered on the registration website. If you have questions, please contact us at

***This is a family-friendly event; with inflatables on the football field for the kids!

****If you register after March 22, 2020, a limited number of shirts are available on a first come, first serve basis.

“Touch ’em all” is a phrase usually reserved for baseball home runs.

But with the Storm the Stadium long course, you’ll have the chance to put a new spin on that old idea as you climb up and down the stairs in each and every one of Notre Dame Stadium’s 72 sections—36 in the lower bowl, and 36 in the upper.

The short course option follows a similar path but stays in the upper part of the stadium; the stadium walk, which is ADA accessible, is a flat course that will let you walk more than a half mile loop between the lower and upper bowls.

The interactive graphic to the right illustrates the long course, short course, and stadium walk routes. In addition, a virtual climb and a family fun zone are available.

The event kicks-off with an opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 p.m. Climbers can choose one of three timed starting waves starting at 9:15 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 10:15 a.m. respectively based upon anticipated climb speed:

  • Wave 1: Racing/Running Climbers
  • Wave 2: Steady Climbers
  • Wave 3: Walking Climbers

The course time limit is 90 minutes.

More details can be found on the Storm the Stadium registration page. You are also welcome to contact the Office of Military & Veterans Affairs (, 574-631-9577) with any questions.
